About InnerCity

INNER CITY PRODUCTIONS was founded in 2008. Born from a director and actor collaboration, the realization soon became apparent that the need to reflect creative outsiders from ALL walks of life, not just those in vogue, was a loud and urgent calling. From story tellers to writers, from directors to camera operators, from thespians to movie stars. Each person brings with them their own creative path, filled with a rich tapestry of traditions and culture that, if given the support and opportunity, can offer a unique and fresh approach to new and challenging work. Inner City also see the need to look back in order to inspire the leaps forward so believes bringing classics to the stage, again from those outsiders that have not been showcased enough in London, is the key to changing the system of stereotyping cultures to their skin tone, accent and sexuality. Breaking the cultural moulds that have set is our goal and we aim to reflect this in all aspects of our work.

Growing up the son of greengrocers in north London and coming from a traditional Greek Cypriot  family with strong Orthodox values, being an actor has always been a matter of ‘life and death’, in the true spirit of Greek Tragedy!  Being raised in Thatcher’s 80’s – a time of struggle, a time of reaction against the state, I have an inherited force inside me to create, not only as an actor, but as a writer/ director/ producer. Meeting another ‘creative outsider’ in the game and pouring our ideas together, Inner City Productions was born.
A production company where individuality is our calling card, no matter the detail of who, what, where and why, the work is our primary concern, encompassing stories from creative outsiders allowing them the support to take off their shoes and take a step inside.

I do not write plays out of a quixotic need to right any wrongs. I simply try to represent the world I see around me. I’d rather see a character from a community rarely represented onstage—the Hasidic Jew, the disenfranchised immigrant A critic once wrote that I have "the valuable ability to articulate the concerns of the working poor through witty, bitter, nihilistic banter.”
